The age of technology was something that Order considered his pet project. He sees great potential in technology. The future of the world, he thinks, is in the ease of life, the simplification of work and the orderly flow of routine that marks an advanced civilization. A civilization where everyone and everything has its place. He privately hoped hat it may advance to the point where there would not be any more chaos in this world and the worlds surrounding it. Who needs Chaos? Of course, he's not about to voice that thought out loud, or even think about it too much. Despite his constant barriers and protective wards, tehre are some powers out there that outstrip even him in rank - the Ancients.

No one knows where they are or what they do or how powerful they really are. For all he knows, he could swat them down like a fly. But they are old, far older than he is, and their names are lost in the mists of time. Even their deeds, only mentioned in hushed whispers, sound too incredible to be true. Sometimes, he wonders if they really exist, but he could not deny that if anything can prove the existence of the Ancients, then it would be the Fortress. Like the Ancients, its origin and name is lost in time. The Fortress sits in a dimension that no mortal can reach by themselves, and is a structure so vast that you could spend aeons wondering down a single corridor and still find rooms that you have never seen before. No one knows what is outside the Fortress, as no portals open outside of it.

Time has no meaning in the Fortress, and its rooms contain wonders from the past, present and future. There are however, dangers in exploring uncharted rooms, as you'd never know what you may find in them. It is said that the Ancients sleep somewhere in this vast structure, where no one can find them, mortal or immortal, unless the Ancients choose to let them. Even the combined power of all the immortals is not enough to open the Great Door. Proof enough that there are greater powers out there. Still, Order is not worried about interference from the Ancients. They have not shown themselves for countless aeons, and is not likely to show themselves now.

Part of the Fortress is inhabited by various gods and godlings, immortals of all kinds. Most, however, choose to establish their bases elsewhere, as he did. He chose Earth, one of the younger worlds, as his base. He could choose a more orderly world, but he considers Earth an interesting experiment, as humans are such contrary creatures. He enjoys nudging the advance of technology and absorbing the growth of humanity, bringing order to a world that was once dominated by chaos. Chaos didn't like it, of course, but it was only fair for them to share the turf, so to say. Aftare all, much as he'd hate to admit it, as cliche as it sounds, there can be no order with chaos, and vice versa. Their powers balances the world, and although he may dominate on some worlds, Chaos would dominate the other worlds, and when you come down to it, it's really just a fine balancing act.

Still, that doesn't stop him from trying to nudge the scale a little in his favour. All's fair in love and war, as the humans are so fond of saying...
